POSITION SUMMARY:

The General Waste and Dem-Con Dumpsters sales position has an important role in the customer interface, satisfaction as well as the development and procurement of new business for both divisions.    The sales position is a role that represents Dem-Con’s core values in a customer facing manner as well as having the same value system when dealing with colleagues internally.    These responsibilities include but are not limited to; account and relationship management for Dem-Con’s northern Minnesota General Waste & Recycling operations as well as the Dem-Con Dumpster business in the Twin Cities metro area.  This position also is responsible for waste acceptance, pricing, and overall customer satisfaction in these divisions.

Approximately 75% of this positions time will be dedicated to Dem-Con’s Dumpster business (greater Twin Cities metro) while 25% will be allocated to Dem-Con’s General Waste & Recycling business in Northern Minnesota with a minimum of two overnight travel trips scheduled per month.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proven ability to build and retain relationships across various sales channels
  • 5 + years of business-to-business sales experience

Essential Functions:

  • Routinely visit customers and prospects in various business units throughout Dem-Con’s locations including Shakopee, Blaine, and Hibbing.
  • Provide consistency in the customer experience and satisfaction across all divisions.
  • Keep a portion of the daily schedule open and dynamic allowing job site visits, customer meetings, and various locations as needed.
  • Aide in the evaluation of new business and organic growth opportunities.
  • Participate in business division meetings.
  • Participate in various industry associations and meetings that aide in development and relationship building across Dem-Con’s clients and vendors.
  • Work close with operations and customer service teams to ensure execution of order placement, delivery of boxes, and invoicing.
  • Aid in software management for various software programs used for dispatching, ticketing and invoicing.
  • Gain proficiency in dispatch, customer service, billing, scale and landfill operations.
  • Ability to travel, entertain, and participate in trade shows. This may include occasional weeknight events and travel.

Dem-Con Dumpsters – Essential Functions:

  • Develop a robust knowledge of roll-off dumpster and landfill businesses.
  • Develop a relationship with general contractors, industry businesses, and excavators to procure waste services for Dem-Con Dumpsters roll-off division throughout the greater Twin Cities Metro.
  • Create and deliver proposals and quotes for business opportunities to existing and prospective customers with the appropriate and follow up.
  • Management of customer and specific jobs for the life cycle of each project which includes before, during and after we have performed work for the customer.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of all solid waste delivery locations and options throughout the Twin Cities Metro.
  • Build upon existing and create new relationships with various solid waste and recycling delivery locations.
  • Work alongside the VP of Fleet Services to integrate into the waste industry and prepare for transfer of integral relationships (large contractors, GC’s, and large earthwork) for the Dem-Con Dumpster division.

General Waste – Essential Functions:

  • Work with general contractors, small and large businesses, and residents selling solid waste services for the General Waste and Recycling business in Northern MN.
  • Create and deliver proposals and quotes for business opportunities to existing and prospective customers with the appropriate follow up.
  • Management of customer and specific jobs for the life cycle of each project which includes before, during and after we have performed work for the customer.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of all solid waste delivery locations and options throughout Northern Minnesota.
  • Develop a robust understanding of our landfill permits as well as the facility’s Industrial Solid Waste Management Plan.
  • Ensure all waste acceptance criteria regulations are being met for all inbound waste at the landfill.
  • Manage and update the landfill price list for all inbound waste into the landfill.

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Travel throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.  Routine office work as well as job site visits that includes construction sites, manufacturing and industrial facilities and disposal sites.
